Do you enjoy the
Ludy's Christmas
Light Display?
Did you know that it
may not happen in 2012?
Two years ago, Jerry fell
off his roof while hanging Christmas lights. It
knocked him unconscious. The doctor said he was lucky
to be alive. The roof was bad then, but it's
absolutely DANGEROUS now.
The typical life span of a
roof under normal circumstances is twenty years. When
you begin to walk on a roof, decorate, and spend more time
on your roof than the ground, you can only imagine the wear,
tear, and stress Jerry and his son, Keith, have put on the
Ludy's roof over the past 15 years. Jerry says "There
is no grip left on the shingles, it's like walking on loose
sand and praying you don't slip".
The operation,
maintenance, and cost of the Christmas display increases
each year with natural rising costs and as new features are
added. The roof's dire repair, at a cost of $5,000,
has created a hardship that may lead to discontinuing the
display for a few years. Jerry says "This is a
decision I do not want to make as I know the meaning and joy
the display brings to so many individuals and families in
our community."
We are reaching out to our
community and asking for assistance to help the Ludy's
reroof their home. We are accepting three types of
donations:
Local
company, group, or association to sponsor the repair of the
roof so the display may continue for years to come.
Roofing
contractor to donate time, labor, and/or materials so the
display may continue for years to come.
Monetary
donations from individuals, families, groups, companies,
etc. so the display may continue for years to come. |
